Light art

PiKAPiKA

This is amazing! It's in Japan, i believe. They create art piece in the city environment using light. This is a type of art that is becoming more and more popular. I also had a go and will post images soon. enjoy.

Something I'm playing with.

I'm playing with some type that represents the galleries that we visited. They are work in progress.......

Our Meeting

Group Meeting Thurs 26th Feb 09

We met today at 1, to discuss which direction to take both our project and our PPD task. We also used the time to look at the work we have already made and how to develop it together.
After much discussion and brainstorming we have come up with a few potential ideas and have delegated roles.
Next Monday we will meet again and show each other what we have achieved and come up with some more ideas.

Janice is planning on creating an identity for the Jae Birds, Emma is going to focus on typography perhaps through posters, and I am going to create a visual journal of the gallery visits, in the form of a leaflet/broadsheet.

The aim is that we will bring these items to the table and hopefully mix the elements into a final product that successfully fulfills the brief.

Hayward Gallery

Topolski century

This was an interesting gallery, they displayed the artists work EVERYWHERE!! it art work was the walls and the floor and the ceiling. The artist painted onto the walls. The colours and the spaces were moving and bold. The art told a story through the ages. The typography for the exhibition was on the floor and drawn into the work. This had a completely different feel to the other galleries that we visited. Great exhibition for illustrators.

Hoxton Square

White Cube

The White cube is a completely different feel. Its very White and clean and sterile, there isn't much art work in the gallery but they are very effective, but also very quick to visit, i would recommend to anyone that doesn't have the stamina for a large galleries. You can visit the gallery and have a drink in 30 mins. Adds a whole new dimension to being cultural.

Another Gallery (can't remember the name)

This is another Gallery but I can't remember the name. It is run by a american guy that has galleries around the world. Great front of the gallery, great typography. The art inside is interesting as well. It created a completely  different look on a gallery, all the windows are covered up with what looks like the covering for a refit.

V&A

Saatchi Gallery

Kader Attia - Ghost

This was an amazing piece which chilled ya to the bone when your standing there. Its very ere and non of them move, speak, cough they just sit there. These sculptures all face the same way in one large lit room. You stare into the holes that should contain their faces and there is just emptiness.

If you can get a chance you should go and experience this weird sensation.

Wafa Hourani - Qalandia 2067

This is a weird but great exhibit. The buildings are created by individual photos of builds, doors, windows, textures. It creates a new building that evolves from the past. There is also music coming from the builds and there is creative figure shapes on the top of buildings.
